WEEK OF MAY 15-19

Hi Grade Two Families!

Last Sunday was bittersweet for us as we wished Mrs. Santa Ana the best of luck! She will be going on a three-week practicum for her continued studies. We are very excited for her, but will miss her greatly. She will be back on June 5th (just in time for our field trip! ). The class made a beautiful book for her filled with loads of great advice and top-notch drawings. It was incredibly sweet and they may have even put a tear or two in her eyes. Please keep her in your prayers.

A very, very Happy Mother's Day to all our beautiful moms! I hope you were showered with extra love and affection today.

WEEK OF MAY 1-5

Hi Grade Two Families!

It is so hard to believe that it is May tomorrow! I feel as if we just started April, and now there are only two months left of Grade 2! We spent the past week learning about the Holy Trinity, and the students came up with very creative ways of explaing how there are 3 persons in 1 God. Some of them included a three layer cake, a triangle, a tricycle, different letters such as A and N, an apple, and even the whole body! Feel free to ask them what their group came up with. They also loved being the "Grade 7's" for a day as the older classes were at the track meet. They had a mini-track meet of their own with the Kinders, and boy, can they run and hula hoop! :) We also spent the week doing some double-digit subtraction and exploring different cultures. Please make sure you return the culture sheet on Monday as we'll be sharing our different findings in our groups.

CULTURE SHEET

 Hi Grade Two Families!

We're learning about different cultures in school, and we need your help! Your child took home an info sheet that they need to fill out about one of your family cultures. It contains different elements of culture such as language, food, clothing and more. They are tasked to ask you and your family members different questions to learn more about their culture, then document their findings onto the sheet. They are welcome to use different resources as well to find out more information. The students know that the bulk of the work needs to be done by them. If your family has more than one culture and your child would like to do more than one sheet, they are more than welcome to. They have to submit the first one in order to get the second one.  These sheets are due back in class on Monday, May 1. They will use these sheets to share with a small group what they have learned.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy sharing!

Miss Ramirez

APRIL 10-14

Hi Grade Two Families,

As we enter into Holy Week, we celebrate Palm Sunday with joy as Jesus enters into Jerusalem even if we know that He is soon going to die on the cross. This past week, we've been looking at the Stations of the Cross. We talked about what happened at each station and how Jesus and the people around Him might've felt. The children were very interested in Jesus' journey with the cross, asking lots of questions and sharing their thoughts. We'll be continuing this discussion throughout Holy Week and even making a trip to the church to pray the Stations of the Cross together. Please start to send the Mite Boxes back throughout the week.

WEEK OF APRIL 3-7

Hi Grade Two Families,

It was great to hear all the fun and exciting things your families did over Spring Break. They sound like restful times indeed. It was great to be reunited again this week back, and we went straight into the swing of things. As the third term begins, the students will be learning about two-digit addition and subtraction, both with and without regrouping. Please practice with your child their basic addition and subtraction facts to prepare them for the thrilling world of two-digit adding and subtracting. You can certainly do this while enjoying the beautiful sunshine!

WEEK OF MARCH 27-31

Hi Grade Two Families!

I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break! I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow and hear all about the exciting two weeks you had. The building of the new church is moving along so please make sure you read Mrs. Moorehead's email about the new traffic updates. Please be sure to communicate this information to any caregivers who drive your children to school. Please ensure your children know where you will meet them at the end of the day - either the pick-up lane, or in person in the covered area. We split off into two groups at the end of the day, so it is imperative that they know where to go. Thank you very much for your continued cooperation!

MARCH 6 - 13

Hello Grade Two Families,

We've had a very prayerful start to the season of Lent. The children thought about the ways in which they can spend the next 40 days through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. This Lent, we have HoBo theme to guide us. HoBo stands for Homeward Bound; reminding us that we want to spend our time on Earth being like Jesus so we can one day join him in heaven. Over the next 40 days, your child might come home with an extra promise or sacrifice they offered to do during the season of Lent. As they complete it, it gets added to a Lenten chain we have in the classroom.

We wish Andre, Anselm, Brando, Colin, Gabriella, Kelly, Matthew, Tristan and Stella all the best as they represent St. Paul School at the Tri-School Speech Arts festival on Wednesday. Everyone did a great job sharing their poems and Bible readings over the past few weeks. Thank you to the parents for working with your child and the continued support!
