Grade 2's blog

PE on October 27

Hi Grade 2 Families,

Because of a Blood Donor Clinic on Friday, PE will be moved to Thursday. On Friday, they will have their Music class instead. Please make sure your child is in their PE uniform for that day.

Please email me at cramirez@stpaulschool.ca, or write a note in your child's agenda if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Miss Ramirez :)

OCTOBER 24 - 28

Hi Grade 2 Families,

This week we had mini-science experiments involving matter. The class has become very familiar with the states of matter and were great at making predictions, hypothesizing and asking questions. In the upcoming weeks, we'll continue to do more experiments that focus on both physical and chemical changes. There will be breaking, mixing and maybe even trying to see how Jesus performed miracles in these experiments.  We'll make sure you read all about them in the Friday Letters.

This Friday, Primary Choir starts in the Music Room from 12:15 - 12:45. Considering how much the Grade Two class loves to sing, it would be great to see them there. Please note, however, that it is not mandatory.

OCTOBER 17-21

 Hi Grade 2 Families,

It sure is getting colder out there! As per Mrs. Moorehead's note, please make sure your child comes to school with a jacket every day. We are finishing up with patterns, and will begin our new math section on numbers to 100. If you are able to, please practice skip counting with your child. We will also be starting our bigger theme: I can make a difference. The Grade 2 students have already begun reflecting upon the different parts that make up who they are. They are quite the insightful group!

Spelling!

Hi Grade 2 Families!

Your child has brought home their first spelling list to study today.  Throughout the year, your child will do different activities in class to help them practice their words. This week, we practiced writing sentences for their words. Your child should study a few words each night and build up to the whole list before Tuesday evening. There are a lot of great ways to practice the spelling words. Attached are some ideas that you can try. Spelling Check Ups are given every Wednesday during Library time.

If you have any questions regarding the Spelling Program, please feel free to email me.

Thank you! Happy Spelling!

Miss Ramirez

Welcome to Grade 2!!

Hi Grade Two Families!!

Welcome to a new school year! I hope you all had a fun and relaxing summer. I am thrilled to be joining St. Paul School and I can't wait to start the new year with all of you. This year is particularly exciting because we get to roll out the new BC Curriculum, and prepare the children to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.

The start of the school year is always busy with lots of things to remember, so please make sure you check this blog frequently to stay up-to-date. Please also make sure to check your child's agenda for any notices, or letters.

A few things to remember for Tuesday, September 6:

  • Students will come to school from 8:45 am - 12:00 pm.
  • We will be having recess, so please don't forget a snack (with no nuts).
  • Edu-Pac supplies will be going home. Please make sure everything you ordered is there.
  • Please label and return all supplies by Wednesday, September 7.

If you have any questions or concerns, please come in and see me, or email me at cramirez@stpaulschool.ca

See you soon!
