Sept. 11-15

Dear Grade Four Families,

It was a wonderful week to reconnect with the students again!  I'm so pleased with how the flexible seating is working out in class.  The students enjoy the freedom of choosing a spot that best suits their learning style, and I like that they get to work with different classmates all the time.  The round tables allow the students to collaborate, work together, and help each other out.  This week, the students will also have more responsibilities in class.  They all have a classroom job for the week, so ask your child what they are responsible for!

Here are the reminders for the week:

Monday:

  • PE class with Mr. Kelly
  • Cross-Country forms due today
    • practice after school from 3:00-3:45pm
    • If practice ever needs to be cancelled due to rain, Mr. Kelly will post that information on the PE and Music blog by 12noon for that day...please check the blog regularly
  • Birthday picture due today (Please write your child's name and birthday on the back)

Tuesday:

  • PE class
  • Cross-country practice from 3:00-3:45pm

Wednesday:

  • Dismissal at 2pm

Thursday:

  • PE class
  • Cross-country practice from 3:00-3:45pm

Friday:

  • Assembly led by our class and the Grade Ones - please join us!
  • no PE class today

Walkathon pledge sheets went home last week.  Please have your child start calling their relatives and family friends for their support!

Reminders:

  1. Hand in yellow Walkathon volunteer form if you would like to walk with our class or volunteer at a station
  2. Return medical form and student pick-up form (it was due on Sept. 8...thank you if you already handed it in)
  3. Mark you calendar: Meet the Teacher Night next Tuesday (Sept. 19) at 7pm

Have a wonderful week!

Welcome to Grade Four

Dear Grade Four Families,

I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer!  I'm looking forward to seeing the students tomorrow at 8:45am!  I pray that this year is filled with new adventures, new friendships, and new experiences.  Let's work together to make this a successful year for all of us!

Top 5 reasons why tomorrow will be an exciting day:

  1. The students are coming upstairs to the intermediate grades
  2. They will be the "big buddies" for the first time
  3. They will experience flexible seating...you can ask them about this when they come home tomorrow
  4. They can reconnect with their friends
  5. You get to send them back to school...FREEDOM for you again (Haha)

Here are the reminders for the week:

Tuesday:

  • 8:45am - 12 noon
  • Bring a pocket snack for recess (please remember that we are a nut-free school)
  • ALL STUDENTS need to bring a pencil pouch with a pair of scissors

Wednesday:

Thursday:

  • send gym shoes in a gym bag to keep in the locker for the school year
  • Buddy activity time
  • regular day...dismissal at 3pm

Friday:

  • Walkathon assembly at 9am...everyone is welcome to attend
  • regular day...dismissal at 3pm

P.E.

    • wear gym strip under school uniform on these days

Mr. Kelly will start teaching P.E. sometime this week.  I will inform the students when they will have their first P.E. class once I know, or check the PE blog.

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please make an appointment to see me or email me at gimoo@stpaulschool.ca

See you bright and early tomorrow!

Yours in Christ,
