 Hello Grade 6 Families,

What an emotional assembly we had today as we wished Mrs. Koop a happy retirement. It was wonderful to hear that she will not be leaving us for good. She will volunteer at our school library.

Things to do this weekend:

LANGUAGE ARTS:

1. Read 30 minutes every night

MATHEMATICS:

1. Complete pg. 306 #1-3 due Monday

LE FRANÇAIS:

1. Quiz on ALLER Tuesday. Please review.

SCIENCE:

1. Definition worksheet - Mixtures & Pure Substances

2. Properties of Matter Worksheet - find items around the house and answer questions on sheet.

3. CYU pg.136 #2-5. Do some reserach on #5.

4. Key Terms: Homogeneous & Heterogeneous Mixtures

5. Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Mixtures Experiment - all due on Monday

SOCIAL STUDIES:

1. Needs and Wants chart for those who did not submit today - due Monday

REMINDERS:

1. Assembly @ 2:15 on Monday May 29 to present Richmond Zones and Badminton

2. CISVA Track Meet on Wednesday

3. No school on Friday, June 2 - Planning Day for Teachers

 Hello Grade 6 Families,

What a busy week we have had. Hopefully, the grade 6 class will get some much deserved sunshine along with all the wonderful Vitamin D. We all need to get rid of the coughs, sneezes and sore throats.

Things to do this weekend:

LANGUAGE ARTS:

1. Read for 30 minutes every night

2. Positive Thought Song (Line) Group 1 and 2. Due Thursday.

MATHEMATICS:

1. Sign Math Test - due Tuesday

2. Complete pgs. 293-294 #1-7 due Tuesday

SCIENCE:

1. Complete pg. 134 Making Sugar "Disappear" (What Did You Find Out #1-3) - due Wednesday

SOCIAL STUDIES:

1. Record Needs for one week (can do it on a spreadsheet). For example: Sat. May 20 Groceries at Superstore $110.00. By the end of the week everyting should be totalled to see how much an average family spends on their basic needs.

REMINDERS:

1. Art is due on Wednesday

2. Victoria Day long weekend May 22 - No School

3. Favorite Fictional Character Day - Friday May 26

4. A box of tissues for all our runny and stuffy noses (merci)

SCIENCE: 

1. Key Terms on yellow cards (see BC Science pg.22)

2. CYU pg.22 complete #'s 1a) b), 2, 3 (glue down plant cell picture) #5 Apply (research is required 5-10 sentences), #6 Critically Thinking (Research is required 5-10 sentences)

3. Cell City Map labelled and coloured 

4. Quiz: review all parts of a cell - know how to draw and accurately label a plant and animal cell (you will have to do one of these for sure on your quiz and respond to some questions).

5. All of the above work is due on Monday

We had so much fun testing out our rocket racers this week. We made some adjustments by making them lighter or faster. Two groups had success in making their racers go over 6 metres. Bravo les amis!

The week has come and gone so fast. I'm excited to see them perform their skit for French 'Le Nouvel Ami'. I've seen alot of effort put into memorizing their lines. Bravo les amis!!
