Welcome back to another school year! The teachers are busy getting their classrooms ready for the first day of school, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back. Our Archdiocesan theme this year is Care for Our Common Home. Based on Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si, the Holy Father highlights how everything in our world is connected and ultimately points to God. We look forward to a year of activities surrounding our theme and what it means to the St. Paul community. We would also like to officially welcome our new Assistant Pastor, Father Mark, to our school community. We look forward to his spiritual leadership and guidance through the year.
As the new year settles in, we also turn our attention to the official launch of the redesigned K to 9 curriculum for all students in British Columbia. Big Ideas, Core Competencies, Curricular Competencies, and essential Content provide the framework for teachers to create a personalized, student-driven, inquiry-based learning environment. Students will be able to "know", "do", and "understand" real world issues and problems. The staff of St. Paul's have responded to this paradigm shift as expected - with enthusiasm, passion, and a relentless pursuit to provide your children with the best education possible. Exciting times are here!
I wish to extend my warmest wishes for a successful and fulfilling year for all members of our school community. Be sure to check the school web site regularly for information and updates, and please join us for our AGM/Meet the Teacher night on Tues. Sept. 20th at 6:45 pm.
Yours in faith,
