Week of October 2 - 6

 Hello Grade One Families!

Welcome to October! It was wonderful getting to know the students over the month of September and I am looking forward to this new month as the students continue to learn about each other and share their gifts and talents.

Thank-you to everyone who walked with us on Friday and who supported us with positive thoughts for good weather! The students were amazing walkers! Please send in pledge sheets and money when it is all collected. The due date is Wednesday October 11, 2017. Thank-you!

This month our religion theme is thankfulness. We will talk about gifts from God for which we are thankful and how we treat people and things to show that we are thankful for them. We will continue collecting data and writing sentences about it. Writing sentences about autumn and discussing what makes an interesting sentence will also be an area of learning this month. We will begin the ReadWell Program and home reading after the Thanksgiving weekend. Apples, pumpkins and cranberries will be our focus in a science study of plants in our local environment.

Please note the following for this week:

  • Scholastic orders due today ~ late orders will not be accepted
  • hot lunch for those who ordered
