Week of October 9 - 13

 Hello Grade One Families!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that you all have a wonderful long weekend with the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Our Lord has truly blessed us and we praise Him for it!

Please note the following items for the upcoming week:

  • no school ~ Thanksgiving Holiday!

  • school resumes at 8:45am

  •  Walkathon pledge forms and money are due today please
  • PE class

  • last day to return library books

  • 9:00am Assembly led by Kindergarten and Grade 6 ~ please join us!
  • PE class

 Looking Ahead

  • home reading will begin the week of Oct. 9 ~ I will send an e-mail to accompany the first home reading assignment (probably Thursday)
  • Mrs. Moorehead and Mrs. Jew will be directing the Primary Choir this year. The first practice will be the week of October 16. All students in Grades 1 - 3 are invited to join the choir. Practices are held during lunch recess. Mr. Kelly and I will be speaking to the Grade 1 students about choir prior to the first practice. Please note that it is completely optional and it is important that the children make their own decision about joining so that they are enthusiastic to participate and ready to give it their best.
  • Parent - teacher conferences are on Friday October 27 and registration will be online. You will receive an e-mail about registration in the next couple of weeks. Please note that Grade 1 students do not participate in these conferences so you will need to arrange child-care please.
  • Halloween is coming! Students will be able to wear costumes to school (no weapons...lots of joy!). If you would like to send treats for the class on Halloween, please make sure that they are individually wrapped because the students will be taking all of the treats home in their Halloween tote bag (the bag is provided by me...thanks to Mrs. Pang for her shopping!).

Please e-mail me at nkelly@stpaulschool.ca if you have any questions or concerns. Please note that I will not be checking e-mail until Monday evening.

Once again...Happy Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful weekend!

 Mrs. Kelly
