Hi everyone,
There are several important events upcoming for both Grade 7’s and the school, so please take note:
Halloween
There will be pizza for lunch on Halloween! (this Wednesday, October 31st).
Students are still encouraged to bring a lighter lunch/snack to supplement the pizza.
The pizza lunch is your prize for bringing in the most money out of the intermediate classes for Walkathon! Well done!
Students are encouraged to come to school in their costume. However, please note the expectations posted in a previous blog/Google Classroom post.
There will be a Costume Parade Assembly to begin the day at 9:00am in the gym where each class will have a chance to show off their costumes. I hear this may be a good chance to see the school staff coordinating outfits…
School Mass
This Thursday, November 1st, All Saints Day, will be the monthly school Mass at 11:00am.
Three-Way Conference
Parents, students and teachers will meet together throughout the day, this Friday November 2nd for 3-way conferences. If you have not done so already, please sign up for a time slot.
Spirit Day
Spirit Day will take place this Saturday, November 3rd, from 1pm – 9pm. Hopefully, all attending students have sorted out their rides to and from the Chandos Pavilion in Surrey. While there will be (literally) dozens of Spirit Day leaders, as well as chaperones from other schools, in attendance, St. Paul students & PREP students will be led by Shintaro Tachihara and several other youth leaders from the Parish Spirit team. I will also be in attending – I will meet the students there.
If you are driving: When you arrive and drop of your group of students, please ensure they go follow the signs to the group meeting area in one of the two gyms (they are side by side). As there are many Spirit Day team members outside, please ask them to direct you to St. Paul’s specific gym where our Spirit Team will be waiting for them.
If you are picking up: Please be on time (I suggest 8:45pm so that you can secure a waiting spot as there will be many other parents arriving to pickup for 9pm). You can get out and meet them just outside the foyer of the Pavilion.
REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY
Thinking ahead to next week, the Grade 7’s will be leading the annual St. Paul Remembrance Day Assembly at 10:45am. You are encouraged to attend if you are available to do so. Any students who are members of Scouts, Cadets, St. John’s Ambulance, etc., are encouraged to wear their uniforms to the assembly. The assembly will take approximately 45 minutes.
NO SCHOOL – MONDAY NOVEMBER 12th
As Remembrance Day falls on the Sunday, there will be no school on the Monday, November 12th. You are encouraged, however, to take your child to a local event commemorating those past veterans who gave their lives for Canada as well as honouring current Canadian Armed Forces serving in peacekeeping missions around the world today.
Enjoy your week!
Mr. Kirkham
