Hello parents!
Yesterday, as part of the beginning of our Artist Inquiry unit, we ventured in a bit of rain to the Vancouver Art Gallery. The students experienced public of transit in all its efficient glory! For some, it was a nice prep for next year 🙂
The exhibit was “Rhythm, Rapture and the Tree of Life”, which focused on Emily Carr’s forest-focused abstract works along with her female contemporaries (primarily Indigenous).
As you can see in the 3 images linked below, that the students also engaged in artwork of their own, including a workshop that mimicked Carr’s abstract style.
Thank you to the parents who helped supervise and braved transit with us. I think I can speak for all when I say it was quite the enriching experience.
I encourage you to make a return visit for this exhibit or another in the future.
