Hi Everyone:
The CISVA Cross Country Championships will take place on Wednesday October 3, 3018 at Swangard Stadium (3883 Imperial St, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4H7). Students who have been selected to participate in this event will be informed at school today.
Participating students will need to be at the stadium, dressed for competition (gym strip, runners, etc.) no later than 10:15 am. This event is similar in size to our CISVA Track and Field meet and parking will be challenging. I would suggest leaving yourselves ample time to make your way to the stadium on race day. We will gather in our traditional spot in the stands in the upper part of Section C. Take the second ramp up into the stands as you enter the stadium and look up to your left. Our St. Paul School banner will be on display and school staff will be on hand early to reserve our seats. Participating students are not required to attend classes at school before their race nor are they expected to return to classes once they have finished their competition. The event is expected to be completed by 2:45 pm at the latest.
Students are responsible for organizing their own transportation both to and from the event. All athletes must check in and check out with school staff at Swangard upon arrival and before their departure to ensure that all students are accounted for. Students are permitted to leave Swangard upon completion of their event.
Please note that this event will occur rain or shine. Students are encouraged to be appropriately dressed for all weather conditions (hat, toque, warm fleece or jacket, waterproof outer layer etc.) and should also bring plenty of water along with healthy snacks and a lunch. Use of the concession stand will be limited to after a student has finished his/her race.
Order of events:
Gr. 3 Girls, Gr. 3 Boys, Gr. 4 Girls, Gr. 4 Boys etc. all the way to Gr. 7 .
Distances:
Gr. 3 – 1.63 km, Gr. 4 & 5 – 2.25 km, Gr. 6 & 7 – 2.88 km
