Hi Everyone:
I’m excited to let you know that Extra-Curricular Sports will return to St. Paul’s PE program starting next week! Now that we are back into the routine of school, it’s time to up our exercise game and get busy with before and after school practices. Although inter-school competitions and tournaments are still on hold, these time slots will provide another opportunity for our students in Gr 5-7 to get some extra exercise and improve their skill level in our various school sports of Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball etc. There may also be opportunities for other activities like Soccer, Floor Hockey , or Ultimate Frisbee in the coming months.
Please note that COVID safety protocols will be in place for these practices in the same way that they are for our current PE classes. Only one class or learning group will be permitted in the gym at a time. All students will sanitize their hands before and after practices. All equipment will be disinfected after each use. All coaching staff that are not part of the learning groups will wear masks and maintain the 2 metre physical distance from students at all times.
***Please note that siblings can no longer be permitted in the gym or parish centre during morning or after school practices as they have been in the past.*** Only students in a given class can be in the gym at the same time. For morning practices, families will have to drop off only the student participating in the activity for the 7:30 am start time and will have to return with the remaining students in their family at their regularly scheduled drop-off time. The same applies for after school practices. Families will be required to pick up their non-participating children at their regularly designated pick-up time and return to school at 4:00 pm for pick-up of their participating children. I apologize for this inconvenience but there is simply no other way around this issue under our current Safety Plan guidelines.
