Good Afternoon Everyone!
On the eve of this most unique “First Day of School” I am very excited to begin this 2020-21 school year. It will be a school year unlike any other that we have experienced in our lifetime. I trust that as we negotiate the changes, adaptations, and challenges that will be a part of this year, we will all do so in a spirit of community and togetherness. Even though things are a bit different, it feels so great to be back at school and doing what I love the most. The PE schedule has changed this year to accommodate the changes to our new drop-off and pick-up procedures as well as our new primary and intermediate recess and lunch breaks. Each grade will still receive 4 PE classes each week. Outdoor PE classes will figure prominently in the early stages of the school year so students will be encouraged to always dress appropriately for the weather. Extra-curricular sport(s) will be on hold for the time being as we settle into our new routines but will definitely be offered beginning sometime in October.
This week, every student in Grades 1-7 will have PE on Friday September 11, 2020. Students are NOT required to wear gym strip on Friday but are encouraged to have their gym shoes at school. A portion of Friday’s PE classes will be devoted to explaining some new safety protocols and procedures that are now in place and we will also be enjoying some fresh air and outdoor activity on Friday as well as there is a Blood Donor Clinic in the gym. The regular PE schedule will begin on Monday September 14 and students will be required to wear their gym strip next week.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me at gkelly@stpaulschool.ca should you have any questions or concerns. I can’t wait to see many of you tomorrow morning. Let’s all make this a special school year to remember!
All the best,
Mr. K
