Last week Mrs. Imoo and Mrs. Kelly attended the annual CISVA Theme Development Day where the focus was planning ahead to next year’s Archdiocesan theme Seeking Truth, Healing, and Reconciliation. With Bishop Garry Gordon as the speaker, representatives from all our CISVA schools came away with a comprehensive plan that includes a month by month framework for how the theme can permeate all we do in the year ahead. Supplemented with extensive resources, our CISVA schools will endeavour to guide our students to understand their responsibility in recognizing indigenous culture through a reflexive, reflective, experiential, and relational process of learning.
In the words of Pope Francis from his address to indigenous delegates from Canada: “These steps are part of a journey that can favour the rediscovery and revitalization of your culture, while helping the Church to grow in love, respect and specific attention to your authentic traditions.”
